Photoroom Product Fixer: A Safer Way to Repair AI Product Images Without Regenerating Everything
Photoroom’s Product Fixer is designed to repair inaccurate logos, textures, colours and small product details in AI-generated images without rebuilding the whole scene. Here is what sellers should know.
One of the biggest problems with AI product photography is not obvious visual failure. It is the image that looks polished at first glance but quietly changes the product.
A logo gains a different letter. A clasp changes shape. A pattern becomes cleaner than the real fabric. An engraving is rewritten. The usual fix is frustrating: regenerate the whole image and hope the next version keeps everything else correct.
Photoroom’s Product Fixer takes a more targeted approach. It lets sellers use the original product photograph as a reference, brush over the inaccurate area in an AI-generated image, describe what needs correcting, and repair that detail without rebuilding the entire composition.
Why this matters more than another image generator
Most sellers already have access to strong image-generation models. The difficult part is turning those models into a reliable commercial workflow.
Photoroom published a product-fidelity benchmark in July 2026 using 4,250 virtual-model generations. In its own test, the strongest base model preserved the complete product without fidelity issues in 29 percent of generations. Adding Photoroom’s Fidelity Layer increased that pass rate to 38.2 percent.
Those numbers come from Photoroom’s own benchmark, so they should not be treated as an independent industry ranking. The important point is the failure mode it highlights: even strong image models can create convincing commercial images while changing small product details.
How Product Fixer works
The current Product Fixer workflow starts with at least two images: the AI-generated image that contains the mistake and one or more genuine product photographs that show the correct detail.
You brush over the area that needs repair, then use a short prompt to explain what should be corrected. Photoroom uses the real product reference to redraw that section. Its current documentation says the standalone Product Fixer can also work with AI-generated images created outside Photoroom, not only images generated by Photoroom itself.
That makes the tool more useful than a closed repair feature. A seller could generate a lifestyle image in another AI system, notice that the label or jewellery clasp has changed, and use the original product photo to repair only that area.
The strongest use case is a nearly finished image
Product Fixer makes the most sense when the overall image is already good. The scene, model, lighting and composition may be exactly what you wanted, but one product detail is wrong.
For jewellery, that could be a clasp, engraving, stone setting, chain connection or small section of metalwork. For fashion, it could be a logo, button arrangement or fabric pattern. For packaged products, it could be a label, cap shape or printed text.
In those situations, regenerating the whole image creates unnecessary risk. A targeted correction is usually a better workflow because the seller is protecting the parts that are already correct.
A practical workflow for sellers
1. Keep a clean source-of-truth image. Before generating anything, keep one sharp real photograph that clearly shows the product details customers will rely on.
2. Generate the larger creative change first. Create the lifestyle scene, model image, background or new composition you actually need. Do not begin by repairing details before you know whether the overall image is worth keeping.
3. Compare the output with the real product. Check logos, text, clasps, stones, patterns, hardware, dimensions and any other feature that defines the SKU.
4. Fix only the inaccurate area. Use the smallest useful brush area and describe the correction literally. For example: “Restore the exact clasp shown in the reference photo. Keep the bracelet, wrist, lighting and surrounding scene unchanged.”
5. Verify the repaired section again. A repair tool is still generative AI. Compare the corrected detail with the genuine source before publishing.
Current availability and cost
Photoroom’s current help documentation says the standalone Product Fixer is available on the web app for paid plans, while related Fix Product workflows are also available inside several Photoroom AI tools. Photoroom says Product Fixer corrections do not consume AI credits.
The company also lists Product Fixer across its wider product suite, including workflows such as AI Fashion Models, Product Beautifier, Product Staging, Ghost Mannequin, Recolor and Flat Lay. Availability can still differ by interface and plan, so sellers should check the tool shown in their own account before building a large workflow around it.
Where the limitation still remains
A targeted fixer reduces the need to regenerate the whole image, but it does not turn AI output into a guaranteed photograph of the real product. If the original reference does not clearly show the detail, the repair system still has incomplete evidence.
For jewellery, use a close-up reference when repairing tiny engravings, hallmarks, clasps or stone settings. If the real detail is blurred or hidden, photograph it again rather than asking AI to make an uncertain feature look sharper.
Why this launch direction is worth watching
The important shift is that AI product-photography tools are starting to treat fidelity as its own workflow rather than assuming a better base model will solve everything. Photoroom’s Fidelity Layer and Product Fixer are examples of that approach: generate first, detect or identify the product error, then repair against the original product reference.
That direction is particularly relevant to jewellery sellers because small inaccuracies often matter more than the overall image quality. The future of commercial AI imagery may depend less on which model produces the prettiest first attempt and more on which workflow makes mistakes easy to find and cheap to correct.

For sellers, the best workflow remains reference-first. Keep a genuine product photo, generate the creative scene, inspect the SKU carefully, and repair only the areas that actually need changing. AI does not need to regenerate the whole photograph every time one clasp, logo or label is wrong.
