Meta’s New Muse Image Is Coming to Advantage+ Creative: What Product Sellers Should Prepare For
Meta says its new Muse Image model is coming to Advantage+ creative for advertisers. Here is what ecommerce sellers should know about product-reference editing, ad variations and SKU accuracy before using it.
Meta is preparing to bring its new Muse Image model into Advantage+ creative, which could make AI-generated product ad variations much more native to Facebook and Instagram advertising.
Muse Image was announced by Meta on 7 July 2026. Meta describes it as its first image-generation model from Meta Superintelligence Labs, with support for conversational prompting, image editing, multiple visual references and clean text rendering. The company also said advertisers and agencies would be able to use Muse Image through Advantage+ creative in the following weeks.
For ecommerce sellers, the important point is not simply that Meta has another image model. It is that image generation is moving directly into the same system that already resizes ads, generates backgrounds, creates text variations and adapts creative for different placements.
Advantage+ creative already changes product ads
Meta’s current Advantage+ creative tools already include image expansion, background generation, full-image generation, text generation, static-image animation and music generation. Meta says these tools can create ad variations and adapt assets for different placements and audiences.
Image expansion is particularly useful for sellers who have one strong square or 4:5 product image but also need a 9:16 version for Reels or Stories. Instead of stretching the product, generative AI can extend the surrounding scene into the new aspect ratio.
Background generation goes a step further by keeping part of the source image, such as the featured product, while generating a new environment around it. Full-image generation can create broader variations inspired by the original creative.
What Muse Image could add
Meta says Muse Image can reason through a prompt, blend multiple photos, edit existing images and render text inside generated visuals. That combination is more interesting for product advertising than pure text-to-image generation.
A seller could potentially start with a genuine product photograph, ask for a premium lifestyle scene, preserve the product as the main reference and then create several visual directions for the same campaign. Meta’s own Muse Image announcement demonstrates a product bottle being turned into a luxury ecommerce hero image with marble, studio shadows and premium styling.
The useful difference is workflow. Instead of generating an image in one tool, downloading it, resizing it elsewhere and then uploading it into Ads Manager, more of that process can happen inside Meta’s advertising environment.
Use AI to change the ad, not the SKU
For product sellers, the safest use is still reference-first. Start with the real item and let AI change the presentation around it. Do not rely on a generated image to invent what the product should look like.
For jewellery, compare every generated ad with the real product at full size. Check the clasp, chain path, engraving, stone count, thickness, proportions and metal finish. A creative can look convincing at phone size while still showing a subtly different bracelet.
The same rule applies to other categories. For packaged goods, inspect labels, logos, quantity and colours. For electronics, check ports, buttons and dimensions. If AI changes something a buyer would reasonably use to judge the product, reject the variation.
A practical testing workflow
1. Choose one accurate source image. Use a sharp product photograph where the item is easy to verify.
2. Create a small number of deliberate variations. Try a clean studio scene, a lifestyle scene and a gifting or seasonal direction rather than generating dozens of random backgrounds.
3. Let placement tools adapt the format. Use image expansion when you need the same concept across Feed, Stories and Reels. This is usually safer than asking AI to rebuild the product in every aspect ratio.
4. Verify every output. Compare the product against the original before allowing the variation into a live campaign.
5. Test the creative, not the product identity. Keep the SKU accurate while changing the environment, copy or composition. That gives you a clearer idea of what visual treatment actually improves performance.
Do not assume every account has Muse Image yet
Meta’s July announcement said Muse Image would reach advertisers through Advantage+ creative in the coming weeks. Meta’s current Advantage+ creative page already documents generative background, full-image and expansion tools, but availability can vary by ad type, account and region. Sellers should therefore check the features visible in their own Ads Manager rather than assuming the Muse-powered version has reached every account.
That rollout uncertainty is important. It is better to understand the workflow now and test it when it appears than to rebuild your creative process around a feature that may not yet be enabled for your account.
Where this fits beside specialist product tools
Meta’s advantage is distribution. It can create and adapt creative inside the same system that delivers Facebook and Instagram ads. A specialist workflow such as Lustra Studio solves a different problem: keeping jewellery references, product details, poses and colour variations consistent before those images enter an advertising platform.
A sensible workflow is to create a trustworthy product asset first, then use Meta’s creative automation to produce campaign-specific variations around it. The closer AI gets to the final advertising step, the more important it becomes to separate creative experimentation from product accuracy.
The takeaway
Muse Image matters to ecommerce sellers because Meta is moving stronger image generation into Advantage+ creative, where product ads are already being resized, restyled and varied automatically.
The opportunity is faster creative testing from fewer source assets. The risk is allowing automation to change the product while trying to improve the ad. Keep a real SKU image as the source of truth, generate a small number of purposeful variations, verify the details, then let Meta optimize the presentation rather than the identity of the product.
